Oceana Sawyer | Transition Guide: I’ve stood on the bridge between many of life’s biggest transitions including careers, projects, homes, substantial relationships, and even life and death. The liminal space between leaving one reality and waiting for the next reality to materialize is not foreign to me, nor is it for any of us really. These are spaces though that I have come to relish.

In the past couple years, it has been my consuming desire and privilege to have been able to do a deep dive into the challenging work of Resmaa Menakem, Bayo Akomolafe, the Gesturing Towards Decolonial Futures Collective, and the Deep Time Network. This is where I’ve been able to acquire more knowledge and training and hone existing skills. I’ve discovered new ways to be with folks through the lows, highs, and in-between places in life resulting in a bit of peace and insight, even pleasure and joy.

I bring a grounded, compassionate presence that is open to the profound mystery of life beyond the ordinary, which is often what comes with transitional spaces. My offerings draw upon my experience as a facilitator, speaker, grief, sensuality, and diversity educator. They also delve into earth-based spirituality and my intensive study in deathcare and integral counseling psychology.

Currently, I facilitate grief circles, affinity groups for people of the global majority as well as deliver presentations on navigating big life transitions through somatic processes. I’ve also written a book entitled “Life, Death, Grief and the Possibility of Pleasure” which is available online and at bookstores near you.

Additionally, I enjoyed a previous career in corporate training and organizational development at Hewlett-Packard/Agilent Technologies as well as Levis Strauss & Company. Feel free to visit my LinkedIn page if you’d like to see more details on my background and skills.
