A respite on the terrain of grief & liberation in these times

A respite on the terrain of grief & liberation in these times.

You know that for some time I have been looking at how grief affects the body, and discovering how to use the wisdom of the body to allow grief to deepen us as human beings.

This month I’m going to begin a personal 9-month exploration of grief in the context of abolishing the effects of racism in my body – those that have occurred in my lifetime as well as  those that have been passed down to me genetically from my family of origin – with the real possibility of providing healing for the future of my genetic lineage. This is what Resmaa Menakem calls Somatic Abolitionism.

For people like me, who are primarily descendants of non-European countries and thus the targets of white-bodied supremacy, this is an important intersection of which little is widely known. Fortunately that is changing. I’m very excited to be a part of that conversation and contributing all that I am to it.

So that I can devote my full attention to this journey of a lifetime, for the remainder of the year, I will not be taking on individual clients or conducting many, if any, workshops for the public.

However you can, come along with me on this journey via original writing and videos. together with a curated selection of the work of other thought-leaders in the area of somatic restorative justice and embodied grief. People of Culture (Color) and select others will also be able to participate with me directly in this process of discovery.

I’ve created a space on Patreon for people who want to have a deeper embodied experience of grief in their Black, Latinx, Asian, NA Indigenous, and Mixed bodies. There will also be space for white-bodied folk who want to support a Black woman, and thereby POC, in the creation of an effective way to transform loss and trauma, while also getting a peek into the journey.
